What is PsychScan?

PsychScan is a comprehensive, validated mental health test. It assesses eleven DSM-5 disorders commonly seen in clinical practice that therapists need to know up front.

Therapists get a comprehensive Clinician Report with specific DSM-5 diagnoses, symptoms, and scores. Clients get a personalized Client Report highlighting problem areas where therapy can help. Your practice name and contact information are included on the Client Report so new clients can reach you.

Which version of PsychScan is right for my practice?

PsychScan Pro is for individual therapists and small group practices. A monthly subscription includes up to five PsychScan assessments per month. An annual subscription includes up to 75 assessments per year. PsychScan Clinic is for healthcare organizations of any size, up to regional and national healthcare systems. It supports an unlimited number of providers and locations, integrates with EMR systems, and lets organizations automate a range of assessment activities. Visit the PsychScan Clinic page for information.

How do my clients access PsychScan?

Sign in to your PsychScan account and add a new client to your PsychScan client list. You can then send them a PsychScan link by text or email. Your client clicks the link to start the assessment. It's that easy. You can also add a PsychScan link or button like the one below to your practice website, so clients can access PsychScan right from your website.

Are there separate reports for therapist and client?

Yes, there are two separate reports. The Client Report provides helpful client-oriented information about problem areas where therapy can help. It empowers clients to make good decisions about their mental health care. Clients can view the report as soon as they complete the PsychScan assessment. The comprehensive Clinician Report provides detailed diagnostic information and is sent directly to the clinician.

How can PsychScan help me be a more effective therapist?

The Clinician Report provides a comprehensive picture of symptoms and diagnoses to help you decide whether a potential client is a fit for your practice. It identifies major problem areas so you know what you’re dealing with and can focus on what’s important from the get go. Therapists juggle competing demands in the initial meeting. We need to connect with clients and develop a therapeutic alliance. We also need to do a thorough evaluation, inquire about symptoms, assess safety risk when relevant, and (depending on insurance and regulatory requirements) record a diagnosis. PsychScan performs a comprehensive assessment for you, so you don't have to worry you've missed something important. Instead of reviewing lists of symptoms and disorders with clients, you can connect with them and focus on doing therapy.

Can PsychScan help grow my practice?

Yes. When you add PsychScan to you website, prospective clients engage with you from the first online contact. They'll stay on your site instead of browsing to the next. The personalized Client Report gives them valuable information they’ll want to keep and refer to. The report includes your practice name and contact information so they know how to reach you. The Client Report helps prospective clients understand how therapy can help with their specific problems, and helps them overcome initial ambivalence about scheduling the all-important first appointment.

What disorders does PsychScan assess?

• Major Depression • Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia) • Bipolar Disorder • Generalized Anxiety Disorder • Panic Disorder • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder • Substance Use Disorder • Binge-Eating Disorder • Bulimia Nervosa • Somatic Symptom Disorder • Suicidal ideation and suicide risk (optional) • Violence risk (optional) • Psychotic Disorder (optional)

How can PsychScan do all this in less than 10 minutes?

PsychScan is intelligent. It uses advanced algorithms to select questions based on the client’s previous answers. The algorithms probe in depth when disorders may be present and don't ask irrelevant questions when they’re not. Take PsychScan for a test drive and see for yourself.

Are PsychScan results reliable and valid?

Yes. PsychScan has high reliability and validity. PsychScan was validated against the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders (SCID), widely considered the gold standard for mental health diagnosis. PsychScan is the newest version of a mental health test previously known as the QPD Panel, which has been in continuous use by healthcare organizations for more than 20 years. PsychScan brings this proven, time-tested technology to your therapy practice. Read about the science below.

What's in the Clinician Report?

The Clinician Report includes scores measuring symptoms in eight different areas (for exampole, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use), lists applicable DSM-5 and ICD-10 diagnoses, and lists the specific symptoms leading to each diagnosis. It optionally screens for suicide risk, violence risk, and recent sexual or physical abuse. Check out a sample Clinician Report. Better yet, take PsychScan for a test drive and see for yourself.

Can PsychScan be used to measure client progress?

Yes. You can readminister PsychScan as often as you want to measure progress, or for outcome assessment. PsychScan will even send out links for follow-up assessments automatically, at any interval you specify. When a client completes the PsychScan assessment more than once, the Clinician Report includes a graph showing changes over time.

What does a PsychScan Pro subscription cost?

An annual subscription costs $140 per year (a 10% savings) and includes up to 75 assessments per year. If needed, you can purchase additional assessments for $4.00 per assessment. We also provide assessment solutions for clinics and healthcare organizations of any size, up to regional and national healthcare systems.
